The KENNAMETAL 4151153 is a screw machine length (stub) solid carbide drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in metalworking and machining applications. Built to DIN 6537K specification, it features a 140-degree split point, a multilayer TiAlN coating with a TiN tip, and through-coolant capability. The 6.40 mm cutting diameter pairs with an 8.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank, giving the bit added rigidity in short-reach setups. Right-hand spiral flutes with a tapered web configuration promote efficient chip evacuation and reduced thrust. This bit is installed by machinists and tool-and-die professionals on CNC machining centers, drill presses, and multi-spindle screw machines.
This drill bit is suited for precision drilling in ferrous and non-ferrous metals where a stubby, rigid tool is preferred over a jobber-length bit. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio and 24.00 mm maximum drilling depth make it appropriate for shallow, tight-tolerance bores in production environments. The through-coolant feature supports high-feed drilling cycles where direct coolant delivery to the cutting edge extends tool life and manages heat in difficult materials. It is a Series B051A-CPG tool commonly selected for automated production lines and CNC turning centers.
Designed as an OEM-style stub-length carbide drill for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and screw machines accepting a straight-cylindrical shank with a 0.3150 inch (8.00 mm) shank diameter.
Installation should be performed by qualified machinists following shop safety procedures. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before mounting or removing the bit from its holder or collet. Verify that the chuck or collet bore matches the 8.00 mm shank diameter to prevent runout and premature tool failure. When using the through-coolant feature, confirm that coolant pressure and flow rates are within the machine tool manufacturer's recommended range before initiating a drilling cycle.
