The KENNAMETAL 4150310 is a stub-length (screw machine length) solid carbide drill bit designed for high-precision drilling in metalworking and machining applications. It measures 15/32 inches (0.4688 inches) in diameter with a 140-degree split point for accurate self-centering and reduced thrust. The overall length is approximately 4.016 inches (102 mm), with a flute length of approximately 2.165 inches (55 mm). A multilayer TiAlN coating on the tip extends tool life in abrasive and high-temperature cutting conditions. This bit is used by machinists, tool-and-die tradespeople, and precision fabricators working on CNC and manual machine setups.
This drill bit suits production drilling environments where stub-length rigidity reduces deflection on short-reach operations. It is appropriate for ferrous metals, hardened alloys, and other materials that demand carbide-grade cutting performance. The straight cylindrical shank seats directly into standard drill chucks and collet holders. Maximum drilling depth is approximately 1.575 inches (40 mm), making it well suited to through-hole and blind-hole work within that depth range. The right-hand spiral flute design provides efficient chip evacuation during continuous drilling cycles.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-application stub-length drill bit for use in standard drill chucks and collet systems accepting a 0.4724-inch straight cylindrical shank. Belongs to KENNAMETAL Series B041A-CPG. Drill bit diameter tolerance is -0.0007 to 0.0000 inches (-0.018 to 0.000 mm), consistent with precision fit requirements in that tolerance class.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling professionals familiar with carbide cutting tools. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet to the rated clamping depth before operation — partial engagement increases the risk of tool breakage. Carbide drills are brittle; avoid impact loading, interrupted cuts without proper feed adjustment, or use in hand-drill applications. Verify spindle speed and feed rate are appropriate for the material being drilled before starting the cut.
