Product Description

The KENNAMETAL 4150260 is a screw machine length (stub) drill bit designed for precision metal-cutting applications. Built from solid carbide and coated with a multilayer TiAlN finish at the tip, this bit delivers improved wear resistance and thermal stability compared to uncoated or HSS alternatives. The 140-degree point angle reduces thrust force and improves self-centering on entry. At 3.504 inches overall length with a 1.850-inch flute length, this is a compact, rigid tool suited for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and screw machine applications where shorter tool overhang is required. Installation and operation are handled by machinists and tooling technicians working to close-tolerance hole specifications.

This drill bit is intended for use in high-production metal drilling environments, including automotive, aerospace, and general precision machining. The straight cylindrical shank measures 10.00 mm (0.3937 inches) in diameter and seats in standard collet chucks or drill holders. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio and tapered web configuration make it well suited for drilling into ferrous metals, cast iron, and alloy steels at moderate to high spindle speeds. Maximum drilling depth is 35.00 mm (1.378 inches). Coolant-through capability is not available on this model; external or flood coolant is recommended for extended runs.

Key Features

  • Solid carbide construction provides rigidity and extended tool life versus HSS in hard materials
  • Multilayer TiAlN coating at the tip improves heat resistance and reduces built-up edge
  • 140-degree split point angle reduces entry thrust and improves hole location accuracy
  • Screw machine (stub) length minimizes deflection in short-reach setups
  • Straight cylindrical shank compatible with standard collets and drill chucks
  • Conforms to DIN 6537K specification for dimensional consistency

Compatibility

Designed as a DIN 6537K stub-length carbide drill for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and screw machines equipped with collet chucks or standard drill holders accepting a 10.00 mm straight shank. Part of the KENNAMETAL B041A-CPG series.

Installation Notes

Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the spindle is fully powered down and the machine is locked out before changing tooling. Seat the shank fully into the collet or chuck and torque the holder to the machine manufacturer's specifications. External or flood coolant is recommended during drilling operations since this bit does not support coolant-through delivery.
