The KENNAMETAL 4149617 is a taper length twist drill bit built for precision hole-making in demanding machining environments. Manufactured from solid carbide grade KC7325 and coated with a multilayer TiAlN finish, this bit delivers high wear resistance and heat tolerance during high-speed drilling operations. It cuts a 4.5 mm diameter hole with a 140-degree standard point angle, making it well suited for drilling into steel, stainless, cast iron, and similar ferrous materials. Coolant-through capability supports chip evacuation and thermal management at depth. Machinists and CNC operators working in production shops and job shops are the primary users of this tool.
This drill bit is designed for taper length drilling applications where extended reach beyond a jobber-length bit is required without sacrificing rigidity. The 8xD flute-length-to-diameter ratio and 49 mm flute length allow drilling to a maximum depth of 41 mm. The straight cylindrical shank at 6 mm diameter fits standard collet chucks and tool holders used on CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual mills. It follows DIN 6537K specification, which is a common standard recognized in precision metalworking environments globally.
Designed as an OEM-style precision drill for use in collet chucks and tool holders accepting a 6 mm straight cylindrical shank, compatible with CNC machining centers, drill presses, and milling machines set up for metalworking applications.
Installation and use of this tool should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with CNC or manual machine setup procedures. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool holder is clean and free of debris before seating the shank. Verify collet size matches the 6 mm shank diameter before tightening. When using coolant-through capability, confirm coolant supply lines are connected and pressure is within the machine and tooling specifications before initiating a cut.
