The KENNAMETAL 4149607 is a solid carbide taper length drill bit designed for precision drilling in demanding industrial and machining applications. It features a 5/32 inch (0.1562 inch) diameter with a 140-degree standard point angle and a multilayer PVD TiN/TiAlN coating for extended tool life in abrasive and hard materials. The straight cylindrical shank measures 0.2362 inches in diameter, and the overall length is 87 mm (approximately 3.43 inches). The flute length runs 49 mm (approximately 1.93 inches), providing an 8xD length-to-diameter ratio suited for moderate-depth hole applications. This bit is installed and operated by machinists and tool-and-die professionals on CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual lathes.
The 4149607 is built to the DIN 6537K specification and belongs to KENNAMETAL series B053A-CPG. It is suited for high-speed drilling operations in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and other ferrous materials where a multilayer TiAlN coating provides thermal and wear resistance. The right-hand cut, regular spiral flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation. Coolant-through capability allows delivery of cutting fluid directly to the cutting zone, making it appropriate for deep-hole drilling cycles where heat and chip buildup must be controlled. Installation and operation should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with CNC or manual drilling equipment. Power down and lock out the machine before inserting or removing the bit from the tool holder. Verify collet or chuck runout is within acceptable tolerance before beginning a drilling cycle, as excess runout accelerates carbide tool wear. Do not use this bit without adequate coolant flow when the coolant-through port is engaged, as dry running at elevated speeds can thermally shock the carbide substrate.
