The KENNAMETAL 4149491 is a taper length drill bit built from solid carbide and coated with a multilayer TiAlN finish for extended tool life in demanding drilling applications. Sized to wire gauge 31 with a decimal diameter of 0.1200 inches, it features a 140-degree standard point angle and a spiral flute in a regular helix configuration. The straight cylindrical shank measures 0.2362 inches in diameter and 1.4173 inches in length. At 8xD flute-to-diameter ratio, this bit is engineered for deep-hole drilling while maintaining hole accuracy within a tight tolerance of -0.0005 to 0.0000 inches. It is manufactured to DIN 6537K specification in material grade KC7325.
This drill bit is suited for precision metalworking applications where consistent hole quality and tool longevity are required. The coolant-through design supports high-speed drilling by channeling cutting fluid directly to the cutting edge, making it appropriate for production machining environments where heat and chip evacuation are primary concerns. It is typically installed in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and multi-spindle setups used in aerospace, automotive, and general metalworking shops.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct application drill bit for use in standard straight-shank drill chucks and collet systems accepting a 0.2362-inch (6 mm) straight cylindrical shank, conforming to DIN 6537K specification.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool holder is clean and free of debris before seating the shank. Verify chuck or collet runout is within acceptable limits to protect the carbide substrate, as solid carbide is sensitive to lateral shock loads. Confirm coolant-through passages in the tool holder are clear and flow is active before commencing drilling operations.
