The KENNAMETAL 4149346 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance metal cutting in demanding production environments. Built to DIN 6537K specification, it features a 37/64 inch (0.5781 inch) diameter, a 140-degree point angle, and a multilayer TiAlN coating for extended tool life under heat and wear. The 2-flute, right-hand spiral design promotes efficient chip evacuation, and through-coolant capability supports deeper cuts with improved thermal management. This drill is intended for installation and use by machinists and tooling professionals in job shop and production machining operations.
This drill is suited for cutting steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, and other non-ferrous materials. Its 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and tapered web configuration make it well suited for applications requiring straight, repeatable hole geometry at moderate to high feed rates. Through-coolant support improves performance in deep-hole drilling scenarios where heat and chip buildup are primary concerns. The straight cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks and collet holders commonly used on CNC machining centers and manual drill presses.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard tooling selection for CNC machining centers and drill presses accepting straight cylindrical shank drill bits in the 0.5000 to 0.6500 inch diameter range. Suitable for cutting steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, and non-ferrous materials per the supplier specification.
This drill bit should be installed and operated by qualified machinists familiar with carbide tooling requirements. Ensure the machine spindle and chuck or collet are clean and properly sized for a 0.5781 inch straight shank before securing the tool. Power down and lock out the machine before changing tooling per standard lockout/tagout procedures. Carbide is brittle - avoid side loading or impact that can cause chipping or fracture.
