The KENNAMETAL 4149318 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance hole-making in demanding production environments. The 12.30 mm (0.4843 inch) diameter bit features a 140-degree point angle for reduced thrust and self-centering entry, and a multilayer TiAlN coating that extends tool life at elevated cutting temperatures. With a regular spiral flute geometry and an overall length of 124.00 mm (4.882 inches), this drill is built to handle steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and aluminum in both manual and CNC applications. Coolant-through capability supports chip evacuation in deep-hole drilling.
This jobber drill is suited for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and automated production equipment where consistent bore geometry and tight tolerances are required. The straight cylindrical shank and DIN 6537K specification make it a standard fit for ER-style collet chucks and similar toolholding systems. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and aluminum and non-ferrous alloys. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and 60.00 mm maximum drilling depth support typical through-hole and blind-hole operations in medium-to-heavy-duty machining. Machinists, tool and die makers, and production line operators are the typical end users.
Designed for use in straight-shank collet chucks, ER toolholders, and drill chucks conforming to DIN standards. Compatible with workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and aluminum and non-ferrous alloys per DIN 6537K specification.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC setup technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is clean and free of debris before seating the shank. Verify runout with a dial indicator after clamping, as excessive runout accelerates wear on carbide tooling. Activate coolant-through flow before beginning the cut to maintain chip evacuation and thermal control.
