The KENNAMETAL 4149262 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill designed for high-performance drilling in demanding production environments. The 8.70 mm diameter bit features a 140-degree split point, a multilayer TiAlN coating, and a right-hand spiral flute configuration that promotes efficient chip evacuation. At 103.00 mm overall length with a 61.00 mm flute length, this drill is built to the DIN 6537K specification and delivers the rigidity and thermal resistance needed when cutting steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous materials. Coolant-through capability further extends tool life at elevated feed rates.
This drill is suited for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and automated production equipment operating in job shops, fabrication facilities, and manufacturing plants. It is a go-to tool for machinists and tool-room technicians working with ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials. The straight cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks and tool holders without modification. With a 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio, it handles drilling depths up to 49.00 mm in a single pass while maintaining hole accuracy within the stated diameter tolerance.
Suitable for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, and other non-ferrous materials. Compatible with standard straight-shank drill chucks and tool holders accepting a 10 mm shank diameter.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by qualified machinists with the machine fully powered down and locked out per OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Ensure the tool holder or chuck is clean and free of debris before seating the shank. Verify spindle speed and feed rate settings are appropriate for the workpiece material before engaging the cut. Do not use the drill to ream or side-load, as carbide tooling is brittle and susceptible to edge chipping under lateral force.
