The KENNAMETAL 4149256 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance hole-making in demanding materials. It features a 140-degree split point, a multilayer TiAlN coating for heat and wear resistance, and a right-hand spiral flute geometry that promotes efficient chip evacuation. The drill measures 8.30 mm (0.3268 inches) in diameter with an overall length of 103.00 mm (4.0551 inches) and a flute length of 61.00 mm (2.4016 inches). A straight cylindrical shank, 10 mm in diameter, seats securely in standard drill chucks and collets. This drill is rated as a high-performance grade and conforms to DIN 6537K specification. It is installed by machinists and tool-and-die professionals in CNC machining centers and drill press applications.
This drill is suited for production drilling in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, and other non-ferrous materials. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and tapered web configuration make it effective for general-purpose jobber drilling where consistent hole diameter and finish are required. A through-coolant feature allows internal coolant delivery, reducing heat buildup at the cutting edge during high-speed or deep-hole operations. Typical applications include structural fabrication, precision machining, and batch-production environments where tool life and repeatability matter.
Designed as a jobber-length replacement drill conforming to DIN 6537K for use in standard straight-shank drill chucks and ER collet systems. Suitable for workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, and non-ferrous alloys within the 8.00 mm to 9.00 mm drill diameter range.
A licensed machinist or qualified toolroom technician should install this drill bit in a properly rated CNC machining center, drill press, or handheld power tool with a compatible chuck or collet. Ensure the machine spindle and workpiece are secured before beginning operation. When using the through-coolant feature, verify coolant supply lines are connected and pressure is set per machine specifications before cycling. Do not exceed the manufacturer-recommended feed and speed parameters for the workpiece material being drilled.
