The KENNAMETAL 4149251 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit with a 7.90 mm (0.3110 inch) diameter and a 140-degree point angle. It carries a multilayer TiAlN coating for extended tool life in demanding cutting applications. The overall length is 91.00 mm (3.58 inches) with a 53.00 mm (2.09 inch) flute length, and the drill features a straight cylindrical shank for use in standard drill chucks and toolholders. With coolant-through capability and a right-hand, regular spiral flute design, this bit is built for production and maintenance drilling where precision and tool longevity matter. It is designed to DIN 6537K specification.
This drill is suited for use in ferrous and non-ferrous materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and aluminum. The 140-degree split-point geometry reduces walking and axial thrust, making it appropriate for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual operations in job shop, maintenance, and production environments. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports moderate-depth holes. Machinists, toolroom technicians, and maintenance professionals working in metal fabrication and industrial manufacturing are the primary users.
Compatible with steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, and non-ferrous workpiece materials per manufacturer specification. Fits standard straight-shank toolholders and drill chucks accepting an 8 mm shank diameter.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians familiar with cutting tool setup. Secure the shank fully in a properly sized collet or drill chuck and verify runout before drilling. Always follow the machine tool manufacturer and cutting tool manufacturer recommendations for speeds, feeds, and coolant flow. Inspect the cutting edge for wear or chipping before each use and remove from service if damage is detected.
