The KENNAMETAL 4149247 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance hole-making in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Ground to a 140-degree split point, it offers fast penetration and self-centering entry without a center punch in most setups. The multilayer TiAlN coating resists heat buildup and extends tool life in demanding cutting conditions. With an overall length of 3.5827 inches and a flute length of 2.0866 inches, this bit fits standard drill chucks via its straight cylindrical shank. It is sized at 19/64 inches (0.2969 inches decimal) and is built to DIN 6537K specification. Licensed machinists, toolroom technicians, and CNC operators are the primary users.
This drill is suited for production and job-shop environments where consistent hole quality in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and aluminum is required. The coolant-through design channels cutting fluid directly to the tip, making it well-suited for deep-hole operations on machining centers and CNC drill presses where internal coolant delivery is available. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio supports chip evacuation in moderate-depth holes up to 1.6929 inches maximum drilling depth. It is equally capable in manual setups where the 140-degree point geometry minimizes walking on flat and curved workpiece surfaces.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use jobber drill for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual equipment accepting a 0.1875-inch straight cylindrical shank. Primary workpiece materials include steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and aluminum and non-ferrous alloys.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel. Ensure the machine spindle and chuck or collet are clean and free of debris before seating the shank to prevent runout. Verify the machine tool is powered down and locked out before changing tooling. Follow shop-standard feeds and speeds for carbide tooling in the target workpiece material, and confirm coolant-through supply is active if using internal coolant channels.
