The KENNAMETAL 4149246 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in demanding metalworking applications. It measures 7.50 mm in diameter with an overall length of 91.00 mm and a flute length of 53.00 mm. The 140-degree split point reduces thrust and self-centers on entry, minimizing the need for a center punch. A multilayer TiAlN coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life in dry or minimal-lubrication cutting conditions. Designed to DIN 6537K specification, this drill is suited for production environments where consistency and hole quality are critical. Licensed HVAC or metalworking machinists and maintenance professionals specify this drill for through-coolant applications requiring tight tolerances.
This drill is rated for use in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and aluminum and non-ferrous materials. The straight cylindrical shank and 8 mm shank diameter seat securely in standard drill chucks and collet holders. With a 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and a maximum drilling depth of 43.00 mm, it handles intermediate-depth holes without chip packing. It is appropriate for CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual machines where a right-hand spiral flute geometry is required. The regular spiral flute type promotes efficient chip evacuation across all listed workpiece materials.
Designed as a DIN 6537K-compliant replacement or direct-use solid carbide jobber drill for applications in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and aluminum and non-ferrous workpiece materials with a required hole diameter of 7.50 mm.
Installation and use should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician familiar with cutting tool setup. Ensure the machine spindle and tool holder are fully powered down and locked out before loading or changing the drill. Verify shank seating depth and runout before beginning a cut, as carbide tooling is sensitive to eccentric loading and can fracture under lateral stress. Do not exceed the maximum drilling depth of 43.00 mm without retracting to clear chips, particularly in blind-hole operations.
