The KENNAMETAL 4149244 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill designed for high-performance drilling in demanding materials. It features a 140-degree point angle for aggressive entry and reduced thrust, and a multilayer TiAlN coating that extends tool life at elevated cutting temperatures. The drill measures 7.30 mm (0.2874 inches) in diameter with an overall length of 91.00 mm (3.5827 inches) and a flute length of 53.00 mm (2.0866 inches). Coolant-through capability supports chip evacuation and heat management in deep-hole applications. Licensed machinists and toolroom technicians are the primary users of this drill in production and job-shop environments.
This drill is suited for cutting steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, and non-ferrous materials. Its 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and regular spiral flute design make it appropriate for general-purpose jobber drilling where consistent hole tolerance and surface finish are required. The straight cylindrical shank accepts standard drill chucks and collet holders, making it compatible with CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual lathes in both production and maintenance settings.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement jobber drill compatible with standard straight-shank drill chucks and collet systems used in CNC machining centers and conventional drilling equipment. Suitable for workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, and non-ferrous alloys as noted in the product specifications.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel with the machine powered down and locked out per OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Ensure the shank is fully seated and the chuck or collet is torqued to the equipment manufacturer's specification before cycling the spindle. Verify coolant-through connections are active and flowing before drilling to prevent premature coating failure. Inspect the cutting edge for chipping before each use; carbide drills are brittle and should not be used in setups with excessive runout.
