The KENNAMETAL 4149231 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance hole-making in demanding materials. Built to DIN 6537K specification, it features a 6.40 mm (0.2520 inch) diameter, a 140-degree standard point angle, and a multilayer TiAlN coating for extended tool life at elevated cutting temperatures. The straight-cylindrical shank seats in standard drill chucks or collet holders, and the right-hand, regular spiral flute geometry promotes efficient chip evacuation. Coolant-through capability supports high-speed drilling cycles in production environments. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die technicians, and precision fabricators are the primary users of this tool.
This jobber drill is suited for drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, and other non-ferrous metals in both manual and CNC machining applications. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and 53.00 mm (2.0866 inch) flute length accommodate typical jobber-depth holes in plate, billet, and structural stock. The 8 mm shank diameter and 36 mm shank length provide positive grip retention in standard toolholding systems used across job shop and production floor environments.
Designed as a DIN 6537K-compliant jobber drill compatible with primary workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, and non-ferrous alloys. Fits standard drill chucks and collet systems accepting an 8 mm straight shank.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians familiar with CNC and manual drilling operations. Secure the shank fully in a properly sized collet or drill chuck before operation, and verify runout is within acceptable limits for the application. Engage coolant supply before initiating the cut when using the through-coolant feature. Inspect the cutting edge for wear or chipping before each use and replace the drill if edge condition is compromised.
