The KENNAMETAL 4149230 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding industrial and metalworking applications. It measures 1/4 inch (0.2500 inch) in diameter with a 140-degree split-point geometry that reduces walking and improves chip evacuation at entry. The TiAlN coating adds heat resistance and extends tool life in abrasive materials. At 3.5827 inches overall length with a 2.0866-inch flute, this drill delivers a balanced reach-to-rigidity ratio. Coolant-through capability keeps cutting edges cool and flushes chips during deep-hole operations. It is installed and run by machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments.
This drill is suited for use in ferrous and non-ferrous materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and aluminum. The right-hand, regular spiral flute design handles a wide range of workpiece materials without requiring specialty tooling changes. Maximum drilling depth reaches 1.0000 inch (25.4 mm), making it appropriate for through-holes and moderate-depth blind holes in production runs. The shank diameter is 0.3750 inch, fitting standard drill chucks and collet holders common on CNC machining centers and manual drill presses.
Designed as an OEM-grade solid carbide jobber drill for use in standard drill chucks and collet holders accepting a 0.3750-inch shank diameter. Suitable for steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and aluminum workpieces per manufacturer specification.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC operators. Verify that the machine spindle and chuck or collet are rated for the 0.3750-inch shank before securing the tool. Power down and lock out the machine before changing tooling. Coolant-through lines should be confirmed clear and at operating pressure before beginning the drilling cycle to prevent heat buildup and premature tool wear.
