The KENNAMETAL 4149227 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance hole-making in demanding production and maintenance environments. It features a 140-degree split-point geometry that reduces walking and thrust load at entry, paired with a TiAlN coating that extends tool life in abrasive and heat-intensive applications. At 6.10 mm (0.2402 inches) in diameter with a 3.5827-inch overall length and a 2.0866-inch flute length, this drill is sized for precise through-hole and blind-hole work in metalworking operations. Coolant-through capability supports chip evacuation and temperature control at the cutting zone.
This drill is intended for production machining, tool-and-die, maintenance, and fabrication environments where consistent hole quality in ferrous and non-ferrous metals is required. Typical applications include drilling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and aluminum alloys on CNC machining centers, drill presses, and manual machines. The right-hand cutting direction and regular spiral flute geometry make it suitable for standard rotating-spindle setups. It is sold individually and follows DIN specification standards.
Designed for use in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, and non-ferrous workpiece materials. Fits standard toolholding systems that accept an 8 mm shank diameter. Conforms to DIN specification for jobber-length drill geometry.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and locked out per applicable safety procedures. Secure the shank firmly in a collet, drill chuck, or hydraulic toolholder rated for the shank diameter before operation. Verify coolant-through passages are clear and that coolant pressure is within the machine and toolholder specifications before engaging the spindle. Proper speed and feed selection for the workpiece material is critical to achieving rated tool life — consult the manufacturer cutting data for the specific material and depth-of-cut parameters.
