The KENNAMETAL 4149196 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill designed for high-performance hole-making in demanding materials. It features a 140-degree point angle optimized for fast penetration and reduced thrust in hard and abrasive workpiece materials. A multilayer TiAlN coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life in dry or minimal-lubrication applications. The 4.10 mm cutting diameter pairs with a 6 mm straight-cylindrical shank, giving the tool added rigidity in standard drill chucks and collets. Overall length is 74.00 mm, with a two-flute regular spiral configuration and a tapered web for chip evacuation. Coolant-through capability supports high-speed deep-hole strategies where heat buildup is a concern.
This drill is suited for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, and other non-ferrous materials in production and job-shop environments. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and a maximum drilling depth of 29.00 mm make it appropriate for through-holes and moderate blind-hole work on CNC machining centers, drill presses, and automated lines. The right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional spindle rotation. Machinists and tooling specialists working to DIN 6537K specifications will find this drill fits directly into those workflows.
Designed for use in standard straight-shank drill chucks and ER-series collet systems accepting a 6 mm shank diameter. Suitable for primary workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, and non-ferrous alloys.
Installation and tool changes should be performed with the machine spindle fully stopped and locked out per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Ensure the 6 mm shank is fully seated and the chuck or collet is tightened to the toolholder manufacturer's specification before cycling the spindle. Verify coolant-through passages are clear and supply pressure is appropriate for the holder style before enabling through-tool coolant. Inspect the cutting edges and coating condition before each use - carbide drills are brittle and should not be restarted in an interrupted or partially drilled hole without confirming edge integrity.
