The KENNAMETAL 4149184 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding production environments. It measures 3.50 mm in diameter with a 140-degree split point and a multilayer TiAlN coating that extends tool life by reducing heat buildup and wear. Overall length is 66.00 mm (2.598 inches), and the flute length is 28.00 mm (1.102 inches). With a straight cylindrical shank of 6.00 mm diameter and a right-hand cutting direction, this drill is built for use in CNC machining centers and precision drilling applications where consistent hole quality and dimensional accuracy are required.
This drill bit is suited for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, and non-ferrous materials. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and tapered web configuration support chip evacuation in moderate-depth holes. Internal coolant-through capability makes it effective in applications where heat management is critical, particularly when drilling stainless steel or hard cast iron. It conforms to DIN 6537K specification, making it appropriate for shops working to metric dimensional standards in both production and toolroom settings.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and precision drilling fixtures accepting a 6.00 mm straight cylindrical shank. Suitable for primary workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, and non-ferrous alloys per manufacturer specification.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine in a fully stopped and locked-out state. Confirm that the tool holder or collet is rated for the 6.00 mm shank diameter before securing the drill. Carbide tooling is brittle - avoid side loading, interrupted cuts without appropriate feed rate adjustment, or using the drill as a reamer. Verify coolant flow is active before engaging the cut when using the through-coolant feature.
