The KENNAMETAL 4149145 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill designed for precision hole-making in demanding materials. It features a 1.70 mm cutting diameter, a 140-degree split-point geometry, and a multilayer TiAlN coating applied over a high-performance carbide substrate. Overall length is 58.00 mm (2.284 inches). The 140-degree point reduces thrust, improves chip evacuation, and self-centers on entry without a pilot hole in most applications. Coolant-through capability supports high-speed drilling cycles where chip load and heat management are critical. This drill is intended for use by machinists and tool-and-die professionals in CNC and manual drilling operations.
This drill is well suited for production drilling in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, and other non-ferrous materials. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and regular spiral flute design support chip flow in short-depth through-hole and blind-hole applications. Maximum recommended drilling depth is 9.00 mm (0.354 inches). It is appropriate for use in machining centers, CNC lathes with live tooling, and drill presses where a straight-cylindrical shank is compatible with the tool holder or collet system in use.
Designed for use in standard straight-shank tool holders, collet chucks, and drill chucks accepting a 4 mm (0.375 inch) shank diameter. Suitable for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, and non-ferrous materials as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine spindle fully stopped and locked out per applicable machine safety procedures. Verify collet or chuck bore size matches the 4 mm straight-cylindrical shank before clamping. Ensure coolant-through passages in the spindle and toolholder are clear and rated for the intended coolant pressure before activating internal coolant flow. Inspect the cutting edge under magnification before use, as solid carbide tips are brittle and may chip if dropped or improperly stored.
