The KENNAMETAL 4148853 is a solid carbide stub-length drill bit engineered for screw machine and high-production drilling applications. Measuring 7/64 inch (0.1094 inch) in diameter with a 140-degree split-point geometry, it delivers fast penetration and self-centering entry without a pilot hole. The multilayer TiAlN coating applied at the tip extends tool life in demanding materials. At 2.28 inches overall length with a 0.158-inch straight cylindrical shank, this bit is sized for use in CNC machining centers, screw machines, and short-reach drilling setups. Coolant-through capability supports chip evacuation and heat control in deep-hole cycles. Right-hand cut, two-flute spiral design with a tapered web rounds out the construction. Installation is performed by qualified machinists and CNC operators.
This stub-length drill bit is designed for precision drilling in metalworking environments where rigidity and accuracy are critical. The reduced overall length compared to standard jobber bits minimizes deflection, making it well suited for tight-tolerance holes in ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Typical applications include automated screw machine work, CNC turning centers, and VMC fixture drilling. The DIN 6537K specification ensures dimensional consistency for production environments where tool interchangeability matters. Maximum drilling depth is 0.47 inches (12.00 mm), appropriate for the 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio of this series.
Part of the KENNAMETAL B051A-CPG series, designed for use in screw machines, CNC machining centers, and short-reach drilling fixtures requiring a 7/64 inch diameter, straight-shank stub-length solid carbide drill bit conforming to DIN 6537K.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the spindle and workpiece are fully stopped and machine is powered down or in a safe state before changing tooling. Confirm shank diameter compatibility with the collet or chuck prior to seating the bit. When using coolant-through capability, verify coolant pressure and flow rate are set according to the machine tool specification before initiating a cycle.
