The KENNAMETAL 4147474 is a round milling insert carrying the ANSI/ISO designation RNGJ1204M0SHD in manufacturer grade KCPK30. Built from solid carbide and coated via CVD with a TiN, TiCN, and Al2O3 multilayer stack, this insert is engineered for demanding milling applications across a wide range of workpiece materials. The round (360-degree included angle) geometry provides 8 usable cutting edges on a double-sided insert, maximizing tool life per insert. Thickness is 0.187 inches, and the inscribed circle measures 0.4724 inches (12.00 mm). The HD chip breaker geometry and chamfered, honed cutting edge style help control chip flow under heavy cutting conditions.
This insert is designed for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and superalloys including titanium-based materials, covering material grade classifications C1, C5, and C6, and workpiece material codes P, M, K, and S. It mounts via screw-holding in compatible toolholders from the Rodeka-12 cutter series. The positive rake angle (15 degrees) and neutral hand orientation suit a broad range of milling setups, from roughing passes on structural steel to interrupted cuts on cast iron components. Typical users include CNC machinists and tool-and-die shops running horizontal or vertical machining centers.

Installation is performed by CNC machinists or tooling specialists using the appropriate screw-clamping torx or hex key for the Rodeka-12 toolholder seat. Power down and lock out the spindle before seating or removing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before installing a new insert. Do not mix insert grades or geometries within a single cutter body.
