The KENNAMETAL 4132010 is a bottoming-style thread forming tap designed for producing 10-32 UNF internal threads in steel workpieces without cutting chips. Manufactured from Vanadium High Speed Steel (HSS-E) and coated with TiCN, this tap delivers extended tool life in demanding production environments. With an overall length of 2.375 inches and a thread length of 0.5 inches, the 4132010 is built for tight-tolerance applications where a right-hand thread must be formed cleanly to the bottom of a blind hole. The H4 thread limit ensures consistent dimensional control across multiple passes. Machinists and tool-and-die professionals rely on this series for high-volume threading in ferrous materials.
This tap is suited for blind hole threading operations in steel, making it a practical choice for production machining, maintenance repair, and toolroom work. The bottoming chamfer - with 1.5 to 2 chamfered threads - allows the tap to reach near the bottom of a blind hole, maximizing usable thread depth. The 5502TC series is designed for use in materials coded as P-group (carbon and alloy steels) under standard material application classifications. No coolant-through capability is present, so adequate external lubrication is required during use.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct application tap for 10-32 UNF blind hole threading in P-group steels. Suitable for use in standard tapping chucks, floating tap holders, and rigid CNC tapping setups that accept a 0.194-inch shank diameter with a 0.152-inch square drive.
Thread forming taps require a properly sized forming tap drill - standard cutting tap drill sizes will not produce acceptable results. Always ensure the workpiece is securely fixtured and the spindle speed is set per the tap manufacturer recommendations for the material and tap diameter. Apply a suitable tapping fluid or cutting oil to the tap and workpiece before starting; the 4132010 has no coolant-through capability, so external lubrication is critical to tool life. De-energize and lock out the machine before manually clearing or inspecting the tap in a blind hole.
