The KENNAMETAL 4130061 is a thread forming tap designed for cold-forming internal threads in a 2-56 UNC configuration. Unlike cutting taps, thread forming taps displace material rather than cutting it, producing stronger threads with no chips to clear. This tap is built from Vanadium High Speed Steel (HSS-E) and coated with Titanium Nitride (TiN) for improved wear resistance and tool life. With a bottoming chamfer of 1.5 to 2 threads, it is suited for threading to the bottom of blind holes. The H2 thread limit ensures close tolerances appropriate for precision fastener applications. Machinists and toolroom professionals install this tap in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and tapping machines.
This tap is intended for blind hole threading in steel workloads, as indicated by its P material application code. The bottoming chamfer allows threads to be formed as close to the bottom of a blind hole as possible, making it well suited for tight-tolerance assemblies where thread depth is critical.
