The KENNAMETAL 4121702 is a TNMG432RP turning insert in grade KCU25, manufactured from solid carbide and coated with AlTiN via a PVD process. It features a 60-degree triangle shape with a 0.5 inch inscribed circle, a 0.03125 inch corner radius, and a 0.1875 inch insert thickness. The negative rake, neutral-hand geometry and chamfered-honed cutting edge are engineered for stability and controlled chip formation during roughing and medium machining operations. Six available cutting edges extend tool life and reduce per-edge cost. Licensed machinists and CNC turning specialists install this insert on compatible KENLOC-style toolholders in production turning environments.
This insert is suited for external turning, facing, and boring applications across a range of workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous alloys, and superalloys including titanium. The RP chip breaker geometry is optimized for roughing and medium material removal rates. The KCU25 grade provides moderate wear resistance balanced with toughness, making it a versatile choice when cutting conditions vary or interrupted cuts are a factor. Maximum depth of cut is 0.2884 inches, and the insert is appropriate for length-of-cut ranges from 0.7000 inches to 10.0000 inches.
Designed for use in KENLOC-series and standard TNMG-style toolholders that accept clamp and pin insert holding methods. Compatible with turning, facing, and boring applications. No specific machine or toolholder model numbers were provided in the product data.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Power down and lock out the machine before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque driver for the clamping screw to avoid cracking the carbide substrate — refer to the toolholder manufacturer specifications for clamping torque. Inspect the toolholder pocket and locating pin for wear or debris before seating the insert.
