The KENNAMETAL 4121528 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in demanding materials. Built from solid carbide with a TiN tip coating, it delivers extended tool life in applications where standard HSS tooling falls short. The 140-degree split point angle reduces thrust and minimizes walking at entry, making it well suited for work in stainless steel, cast iron, and high-temperature alloys. At 62.00 mm overall length (2.4409 inches) with a 6.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank (0.2362 inches), this Series B051A bit fits standard collets and toolholders used in CNC and manual screw machine setups. Coolant-through capability supports chip evacuation and thermal management in deep-hole passes.
This bit is intended for production drilling in metalworking environments, including CNC machining centers, gang drills, and turret lathes. Primary workpiece materials include stainless steel, cast iron, and high-temperature alloys. The screw machine length format provides added rigidity compared to jobber-length tooling, reducing deflection in short-reach applications. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio and regular spiral flute geometry support consistent chip flow. Maximum drilling depth is 14.00 mm (0.5512 inches). This tooling is typically installed and run by machinists, toolroom technicians, and CNC operators in light to heavy manufacturing environments.
Designed as a screw machine length replacement or production drill for use in stainless steel, cast iron, and high-temperature alloy applications. Compatible with standard straight-shank toolholders and collets accepting a 6.00 mm shank diameter.
Installation and setup should be performed by qualified machinists or toolroom personnel. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool is properly torqued into the collet or chuck before operation. Verify coolant-through circuits are active before engaging the cut to prevent thermal damage to the cutting edge. Do not exceed the maximum drilling depth of 14.00 mm per pass without pecking cycles to clear chips.
