The KENNAMETAL 4119699 is a solid carbide milling insert with ISO designation HNPJ0604ANSNGD and ANSI code HNPJ43ANSNGD, engineered for high-productivity milling of cast iron workpieces. The insert features a hexagon shape with a 120-degree included angle and delivers 12 usable cutting edges per insert on a double-sided configuration, maximizing tool life between changeovers. A multilayer CVD coating system combining TiN, TiCN, and Al2O3 provides thermal resistance and wear protection suited to the abrasive nature of cast iron. The GD chip breaker geometry, chamfered and honed cutting edges, and negative rake angle contribute to edge strength and predictable chip control in interrupted and continuous milling operations. This insert is compatible with the Kennametal Dodeka cutter series.
This insert is intended for milling applications where the primary workpiece material is cast iron, corresponding to material grade K and material grade code C1. It is suited for face milling and shoulder milling operations in manufacturing environments where cast iron components such as engine blocks, housings, and machine bases are processed. Installation is performed by licensed machinists and toolroom professionals operating CNC machining centers or manual milling equipment. The neutral hand designation allows use in standard cutter bodies without left- or right-hand orientation constraints.

Insert seating and screw torquing should be performed by a qualified machinist following the cutter body manufacturer's tooling manual. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Inspect the cutter body pocket and seating surfaces for wear or debris before installing a new insert. Do not exceed the cutter body's rated speed or feed parameters for the insert grade being used.
