The KENNAMETAL 4119697 is a solid carbide milling insert identified by ISO code HNPJ0604ANSNGD and manufactured to grade KC522M. It carries a Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) AlTiN coating engineered for heat resistance and extended tool life in demanding cut conditions. The hexagon insert shape delivers 12 usable cutting edges per insert, making it a cost-efficient choice in high-volume milling operations. It features a positive rake angle of 15 degrees, a honed T-land cutting edge style, and a GD chip breaker geometry. The insert is double-sided and uses a screw-type holding method. At 0.175 inches thick with an inscribed circle of 0.4724 inches, it is designed for the Kennametal Dodeka cutter series.
This insert is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium, covering ISO material groups P, M, K, and S. It is appropriate for both roughing and finishing passes where a consistent chip breaker geometry and sharp entry angle are priorities. The neutral hand orientation makes it adaptable across a range of fixturing setups. Machinists and CNC operators in job shops, aerospace, and general manufacturing will encounter this insert in face milling and shoulder milling applications where the Dodeka platform is in service.
Designed for use in the Kennametal Dodeka cutter series. ISO code HNPJ0604ANSNGD and ANSI code HNPJ43ANSNGD are both referenced for this insert. Conforms to ANSI and ISO insert standards.
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the spindle fully stopped and the machine locked out per facility safety procedures. Use the correct Torx or hex key as specified by the cutter body manufacturer when tightening the retaining screw — do not over-torque, as this can fracture the carbide insert. Inspect the insert pocket seat and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Dispose of used carbide inserts in accordance with applicable facility and local regulations for tungsten carbide waste.
