The KENNAMETAL 4114341 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision external and internal grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured to the G312GMN insert style in Series A4, this insert carries the KCU25 grade with a PVD-applied AlTiN coating for thermal resistance and extended tool life in demanding cutting environments. The neutral hand orientation makes it suitable for straight-in grooving without directional bias. With a cutting width of 0.3125 inches (7.94 mm) and a maximum depth of cut of 0.2460 inches (6.25 mm), the 4114341 is sized for medium-duty grooving work on steel, stainless, and similar materials common in general machining and production turning.
This insert is used in production and job-shop turning environments where consistent groove geometry and surface finish are required. The GMN chip breaker geometry is suited for controlled chip evacuation during grooving passes, reducing the risk of chip packing in tight grooves. The 90-degree included angle and 0.0157-inch (0.41 mm) corner radius support clean groove walls and shoulders. It is installed by machinists and CNC operators in shops running Series A4 compatible grooving toolholders. The insert is a multi-use tool appropriate for both roughing and finishing grooving passes within its rated depth range.
Designed for use with Series A4 grooving toolholders accepting insert seat size 8. Catalog reference number A4G312I08P1GMN. Compatible with CNC lathe setups requiring a 312-size grooving insert with G-style seating.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the machine in a fully stopped and locked-out state. Ensure the toolholder pocket and seating surfaces are clean and free of debris before seating the insert. Tighten the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque using the appropriate Torx or hex key. Verify insert seating and runout before resuming cutting operations.
