The KENNAMETAL 4114334 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision external and internal grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured to the G1005GMP insert style in the KCU25 grade, it features a PVD-applied AlTiN coating that supports high cutting speeds and elevated thermal resistance. The insert delivers a 10 mm cutting width with a maximum depth of cut of 8.1 mm, making it suitable for medium to deep grooving passes. The GMP chip breaker geometry promotes reliable chip evacuation and consistent surface finish. Machinists and CNC turning specialists install this insert in compatible A4-series toolholders as part of a modular grooving system.
This insert is suited for production turning environments where repeatable groove geometry and tool life consistency are priorities. The neutral hand orientation accommodates both left- and right-hand grooving setups depending on the toolholder configuration. With a material grade rating of C2 and C6, it handles a range of workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. It is appropriate for both light-production and high-volume turning applications in job shops and production facilities. The multi-use designation allows use across varied grooving applications within the supported depth-of-cut range of 5 mm to 10 mm.
Designed for use with A4-series grooving toolholders. Compatible insert seat size is 10, and the manufacturers catalog reference number is A4G1005M10U08GMP. Verify toolholder pocket geometry and insert seat size before installation.
Installation is performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the turning center before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully and evenly in the toolholder pocket before torquing the clamping screw; uneven seating can cause insert fracture or poor groove geometry. Inspect the insert seat and clamping components for wear or contamination before each insert change.
