The KENNAMETAL 4114302 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Designated style G0305GMN in grade KCU25, this insert carries a PVD-applied AlTiN coating that supports high-speed cutting in a broad range of workpiece materials. The GMN chip breaker geometry promotes reliable chip control during grooving passes. With a cutting width of 3.05 mm (0.1200 inches) and a maximum depth of cut of 3.51 mm (0.1380 inches), the insert is suited for medium-duty grooving where dimensional accuracy and surface finish are priorities. The neutral hand orientation makes it adaptable to standard right-hand tool setups without repositioning.
This insert is intended for use in Series A4 toolholders and is classified as a multi-use tool, meaning it supports grooving as well as light turning and profiling within its depth-of-cut range. Typical applications include groove machining on steel, stainless steel, and cast iron components in production environments. The recommended maximum depth of cut range runs from 3.00 mm to 4.00 mm, giving the machinist a defined working envelope. It is sold individually but carries a minimum order quantity of 10 units, making it appropriate for shop stock and production replenishment.
Designed for use in KENNAMETAL Series A4 grooving toolholders. No additional specific compatible model numbers were provided in the product data.
Installation of carbide grooving inserts should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is secured before seating or replacing the insert. Verify the insert is fully engaged in the pocket and the clamping screw is tightened according to the toolholder manufacturer specifications before resuming cutting operations. Do not exceed the stated maximum depth of cut range, as overloading a grooving insert can cause sudden fracture.
