The KENNAMETAL 4114295 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the KCU25 manufacturer grade and features a PVD-applied AlTiN coating for improved wear resistance and thermal performance at the cutting edge. The insert uses a GMP chip breaker geometry with a positive rake angle and a 90-degree included angle, delivering controlled chip formation in a range of workpiece materials. With a 2 mm cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 2 mm, it is sized for fine-groove and recessing work where dimensional accuracy is critical. Machinists and CNC operators install this insert into compatible A4-series grooving toolholders as part of routine insert changeovers.
This insert is suited for grooving applications in production turning environments, including external grooving on small-diameter features. The metric-measurement 0200 insert size and A4 series designation make it a standard fit in shops running metric tooling setups. The neutral hand configuration allows use in standard right-hand turning arrangements. The AlTiN PVD coating supports use on steels, stainless steels, and other materials where surface finish and tool life are priorities. Machinists running high-volume part programs benefit from the repeatable edge geometry this insert provides across a batch.
Designed for use with A4-series grooving toolholders accepting G0200GMP style inserts. Consult the KENNAMETAL A4 series toolholder documentation to confirm holder and insert compatibility before installation.
Insert changeover should be performed with the machine powered down, spindle stopped, and all motion axes at rest. Use the appropriate torx or hex key per the toolholder manufacturer specification to secure the insert clamp. Handle carbide inserts with care to avoid chipping cutting edges. Verify insert seating and clamp torque before resuming the cutting program.
