The KENNAMETAL 4112656 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill designed for precision hole-making in steel and other ferrous workpiece materials. It features a multilayer TiAlN coating and a 135-degree split-point geometry that reduces walking and lowers thrust force at entry. The 9.00 mm diameter drill runs a regular spiral flute and a straight cylindrical shank, making it compatible with standard drill chucks and collet holders. Built to DIN 6537K specification with material grade KCPK15, this drill is suited for production environments where tool life and hole quality are critical. Coolant-through capability supports high-speed, deep-hole drilling cycles.
This drill is used in job shop and production machining applications where consistent, repeatable hole quality in steel is required. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and 49.00 mm maximum drilling depth support moderate-depth drilling without peck cycles in many setups. The tapered web configuration aids in chip evacuation and reduces center pressure. It is typically installed in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and turret lathes by machinists, tool-and-die professionals, and production CNC operators. Designed as an OEM-specification solid carbide jobber drill per DIN 6537K, suitable for use in CNC machining centers, turret lathes, and drill presses equipped with toolholders accepting a 10 mm straight shank. Primary workpiece material is steel.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with carbide tooling. Secure the straight shank fully within the collet or chuck to the recommended engagement depth before running the spindle. Carbide drills are brittle — avoid side loading, interrupted cuts without appropriate feed adjustments, and hand-feeding without feed rate control. Verify coolant flow is active before beginning a through-coolant drilling cycle to prevent thermal shock to the tool.
