The KENNAMETAL 4112505 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance drilling in steel and similar ferrous workpiece materials. Built to DIN 6537K specification, it features a 135-degree split point and a multilayer TiAlN (titanium aluminum nitride) coating that improves wear resistance and heat dissipation at elevated cutting speeds. At 12.00 mm in diameter with an overall length of 4.646 inches (118.00 mm), this drill fits standard straight-cylindrical tool holders and collet chucks. The KCPK15 carbide grade and tapered web configuration make it well suited for production environments where tool life and hole quality are critical. Coolant-through capability supports chip evacuation in deeper drilling applications.
This drill is intended for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and automated production cells where precision hole-making in steel is required. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio and 2-flute right-hand spiral geometry keep chip flow controlled at moderate-to-high feed rates. It is a fit for job shops, metalworking production lines, and toolrooms that require a repeatable, tight-tolerance carbide drill in the 10.00 mm to 12.50 mm diameter range. It is typically applied by machinists and CNC operators working to standard DIN specifications.
Designed for use with straight-shank collet chucks, hydraulic chucks, and drill holders accepting a 12.00 mm (0.4724 inch) shank diameter. Suited for steel workpieces per DIN 6537K specification, covering drill sizes in the 10.00 mm to 12.50 mm range.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine in a full stop and lockout-tagout procedures applied. Ensure the shank seating surface and collet bore are clean and free of chips before clamping. Verify spindle runout is within acceptable limits before drilling, as excessive runout accelerates carbide edge wear. Confirm coolant-through supply pressure and flow rate are appropriate for the depth and feed rate before starting the cut.
