The KENNAMETAL 4111104 is a single-end carbide cutoff insert designed for parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It belongs to the A2 series and carries the KCU25 manufacturer grade, a PVD-applied AlTiN coating that supports higher cutting speeds and extended tool life in ferrous and difficult-to-machine materials. The insert delivers a 3.00 mm (0.1180 inch) cutting width with a 15-degree right-hand lead angle, a 2-degree relief angle, and a CF chipbreaker geometry. It is held in place by a clamp-style toolholder and is sized for an insert seat size of 3.
This insert is suited for production turning environments where consistent chip control and dimensional accuracy in cutoff and grooving applications are required. The CF chipbreaker geometry promotes controlled chip formation at moderate feed rates, making it appropriate for both roughing and finishing passes on steel, alloy steel, and similar materials. The right-hand lead angle configuration directs cutting forces toward the chuck, supporting stable cuts on standard right-hand parting toolholders. Machinists and CNC operators in job shops and production facilities are the primary installers of this insert type.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for A2 series clamp-style parting and grooving toolholders accepting insert seat size 3 with a 3.00 mm cutting width.
Insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine fully stopped and the spindle locked out per applicable machine safety procedures. Use the correct torque-rated clamp screw and seat per the toolholder manufacturer's specifications - do not over-tighten the clamping screw by feel alone. Inspect the insert pocket and clamp for wear or damage before seating a new insert. Verify lead angle direction matches the toolholder orientation before commencing a cut.
