The KENNAMETAL 4109947 is a carbide threading insert in the NT3RK geometry, manufactured in KCU25 grade. It is designed for single-point thread turning operations on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. The insert cuts external threads in the 1.25 to 4.00 mm pitch range (6 to 20 TPI) and internal threads in the 2.00 to 5.00 mm pitch range (5 to 12 TPI). KCU25 is a coated carbide grade suited for threading ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials under stable to moderately interrupted cut conditions. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert as a direct toolholder replacement during scheduled edge changes.
This insert is used in production threading applications across general machining, job shop, and industrial manufacturing environments. It covers a broad pitch range, making it practical for threading fastener profiles, pipe threads, and general metric and unified thread forms in both internal and external configurations. The NT3RK geometry is optimized for chip control and thread form accuracy across its rated pitch range. This insert is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 5 pieces.
Designed for use in NT-style threading toolholders that accept the NT3R insert seat. Specific toolholder compatibility should be verified against the KENNAMETAL toolholder catalog for NT insert geometry seating requirements.
Threading inserts are installed and changed by machinists or CNC operators following machine-specific lockout and de-energization procedures before any tooling change. Use the correct torx or clamp screw driver specified by the toolholder manufacturer to seat the insert without over-torquing the clamping screw. Inspect the insert seat and clamping surfaces for chips or debris before seating the new insert. Verify thread form and pitch accuracy with a thread gauge or comparator after the first test pass.
