The KENNAMETAL 4078704 is a DNMG332FP indexable turning insert in the KCP10 manufacturer grade, designed for precision metal removal in CNC lathe and turning center applications. This solid carbide insert features a multilayer MTCVD-applied TiCN plus Al2O3 coating that extends tool life across demanding cutting conditions. The 55-degree diamond insert shape (Insert Shape Code D) provides a strong cutting geometry with a negative rake angle of 15 degrees and a honed cutting edge style. With four available cutting edges and an FP chip breaker, this insert suits high-productivity roughing and finishing passes on steel and cast iron workpieces.
This insert is intended for use in turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring operations. It fits KENLOC-series toolholders accepting DNMG-style inserts with a clamp and pin holding method. Primary workpiece materials are steel (ISO material code P) and cast iron (ISO material code K), making it well-suited to general machining shops, production turning cells, and job shops running ferrous materials. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working to ANSI and ISO tooling standards will find the DNMG332FP geometry a familiar and widely supported insert form.
Designed for use in KENLOC-series toolholders accepting DNMG-style inserts with clamp and pin holding. ISO industry standard number DNMG332FP; ISO code DNMG110408FP. Compatible with ANSI and ISO standard tooling systems. Suited for primary workpiece materials steel (P) and cast iron (K).
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine in a full stop and lockout state per applicable shop safety procedures. Use the correct torque wrench and insert clamp hardware specified for the KENLOC toolholder to secure the insert properly. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating a new edge. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut value for the selected cutting edge.
