The KENNAMETAL 4071927 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding metalworking applications. With a 0.5 inch mill diameter, 2 inch length of cut, and 4 flutes arranged in a right-hand spiral configuration, this single-end tool delivers efficient material removal and superior surface finish. The 38-degree helix angle and variable index geometry reduce chatter and improve chip evacuation. An AlTiN coating extends tool life by providing thermal resistance and hardness at elevated cutting temperatures. It is installed by machinists and CNC operators working in job shops, tool rooms, and production environments.
This end mill is engineered for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hardened materials, covering ISO material groups P, M, K, and H. The HPHV series designation indicates a high-performance, high-velocity design optimized for aggressive feed rates and elevated spindle speeds. It is well suited for slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling operations on CNC machining centers. The 0.5 inch shank diameter and 4 inch overall length accommodate standard toolholders found in vertical and horizontal milling setups. Center-cutting capability allows plunge entry without a pre-drilled pilot hole.

Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe, locked-out state before changing tooling. Insert the 0.5 inch shank to the recommended grip length in a clean, undamaged toolholder and torque the retention mechanism per the toolholder manufacturer specification. Inspect the cutting edges for chips or coating damage before use; do not run a damaged end mill at high feed rates.
