The KENNAMETAL 4071919 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining environments. Built to the HPHV series specification, it features a 0.5-inch cutting diameter, a 1.5-inch length of cut, and a 4-inch overall length with a 0.5-inch shank. The AlTiN coating provides thermal resistance and extended tool life when cutting ferrous materials at elevated speeds. With four flutes, a 38-degree helix angle, and a variable index design, this end mill delivers improved surface finish and reduced chatter during aggressive milling passes. It is a single-end, center-cutting tool with right-hand cut and right-hand flute geometry. Licensed machinists and CNC tooling professionals install and qualify this tool.
This end mill is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hardened materials in both roughing and finishing applications. The HPHV series is built for high-feed, high-velocity strategies on modern CNC machining centers. The solid carbide substrate combined with the AlTiN finish makes it well-suited for dry or semi-dry cutting conditions where heat resistance is critical. It is appropriate for job shop and production environments processing P, M, K, and H workpiece material groups per ISO classification.
Designed for use with standard 0.5-inch collet chucks, end mill holders, or shrink-fit toolholders on CNC vertical or horizontal machining centers. Primary workpiece materials per input: steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hardened materials (ISO material groups P, M, K, H).
Installation should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before loading or unloading the tool. Seat the shank fully into the holder to the minimum insertion depth recommended by the toolholder manufacturer. Verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning a production cut, as runout directly affects tool life and surface finish on solid carbide end mills.
