The KENNAMETAL 4071912 is a single-end square end mill designed for high-performance milling in demanding metal-cutting applications. Machined from solid carbide and finished with an AlTiN coating, it delivers heat resistance and extended tool life in ferrous and hardened materials. The 1/2 inch cutting diameter pairs with a 1-1/4 inch length of cut and a 38-degree helix angle. Four right-hand flutes with a variable index geometry reduce chatter and improve surface finish. This tool is installed and operated by machinists and CNC programmers working in job shops, production facilities, and tool rooms.
This end mill is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hardened materials. The HPHV series is engineered for high-productivity, high-velocity cutting strategies, making it a practical choice for side milling, slotting, and profiling operations on vertical and horizontal machining centers. The 1/2 inch shank diameter fits standard ER, end mill holders, and shrink-fit tooling systems commonly found in production environments. The 3 inch overall length provides adequate clearance for typical workpiece setups without excessive overhang.
Rated for primary workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hardened materials per ISO material codes P, M, K, and H. Designed for use with standard 1/2 inch end mill holders, ER collet chucks, and shrink-fit tooling systems on CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following shop safety procedures. Ensure the spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a safe state before tool changes. Seat the shank fully into the holder to the recommended gauge depth and verify runout with a dial indicator before cutting. Do not exceed the tool manufacturer's recommended depth-of-cut or feed-rate parameters for the workpiece material being machined.
