The KENNAMETAL 4071904 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill engineered for demanding material removal in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard materials. Part of the HPHV series, it features a 0.5-inch mill diameter, a 0.03-inch corner radius, and an AlTiN PVD coating that extends tool life in high-heat applications. With four flutes and a high-helix spiral geometry, it delivers both roughing and finishing performance in a single tool. The short-length flute configuration and extended reach design make it well suited for aggressive cuts where rigidity and surface finish both matter. Licensed machinists and CNC programmers in job shops and production environments are the primary users.
This end mill is designed for use on CNC machining centers and manual mills where the workpiece material is steel, stainless steel, cast iron, or other hard materials. The Weldon flat shank provides positive drive retention in standard side-lock holders. It is compatible with Kennametal clamping systems including EM-CV Form AD and EM IN-HSK Form A toolholders as stated by the manufacturer. The centercutting capability allows plunge entry, expanding its range of applicable operations without requiring a pre-drilled start hole.
Designed for use with Kennametal EM-CV Form AD and EM IN-HSK Form A toolholding systems. Suitable for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard materials as indicated by manufacturer material codes P, M, K, and H.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool changer is in a safe state before mounting or removing the end mill. Seat the Weldon flat fully against the side-lock set screw and verify runout with a dial indicator before beginning the cut. Do not exceed the tool manufacturer's recommended speeds and feeds for the workpiece material and coating type.
