The KENNAMETAL 4053393 is a DNMG434RP KCU10 grade solid carbide turning insert designed for external and internal turning operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features a 55-degree diamond (rhombic) insert shape with a TiAlN PVD coating that delivers high wear resistance across a range of workpiece materials. The insert carries a 0.5 inch inscribed circle, a 0.0625 inch corner radius, and an insert thickness of 0.1875 inch. With 4 available cutting edges and a neutral hand orientation, it suits a wide range of toolholder setups. The RP chip breaker geometry is optimized for roughing and medium machining applications.
This insert is engineered for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, aluminum, and hardened materials, covering ISO material codes P, M, K, N, S, and H. It is well suited to high-production turning environments where consistent chip control and tool life are critical. Typical applications include turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring operations. The KENLOC series designation indicates compatibility with Kennametal KENLOC-style clamp and pin insert holding systems. A maximum depth of cut of 0.4065 inch (13/32 inch) supports aggressive material removal in both roughing and semi-finishing passes.
Designed for use in KENLOC-style toolholders that accept DNMG-style inserts with clamp and pin holding methods. Conforms to ANSI insert code DNMG434 and ISO insert code DNMG150416. Compatible with toolholders specifying DNMG434 or ISO DNMG150416 inserts.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician using the appropriate KENLOC clamp and pin toolholder. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the turret is indexed to a safe position before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully against the pocket locating surfaces before tightening the clamp to avoid edge chipping from improper seating. Inspect the insert pocket and clamp for wear or damage each time an insert is indexed or replaced.
