The KENNAMETAL 4053363 is a solid carbide turning insert with ANSI designation DNGG431LF and ISO code DNGG150404LF, manufactured to grade KCU10 and finished with a PVD-applied TiAlN coating. The insert features a 55-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a 0.5 inch inscribed circle, a 3/16 inch thickness, and a 1/64 inch corner radius with a honed cutting edge. It carries a neutral hand orientation, negative rake, and negative side clearance. The LF chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing and light machining passes, making this insert a go-to choice for machinists running tight-tolerance turning operations on difficult materials. Four cutting edges per insert maximize tooling economy.
This insert is suited for CNC turning centers and manual lathes performing turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring operations. Primary workpiece material categories are steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), non-ferrous materials including aluminum (N), superalloys and titanium (S), and hardened materials (H). The KCU10 grade delivers high to moderate wear resistance and toughness across this broad material range. It seats in KENLOC-series toolholders using clamp or pin holding methods and is consistent with ANSI and ISO insert standards.
Designed for use in KENLOC-series toolholders accepting DNGG431 inserts with clamp or pin holding. Conforms to ANSI insert standard DNGG431 and ISO standard DNGG150404. Compatible with toolholders designed for negative-rake, D-shape inserts with a 0.5 inch inscribed circle and 3/16 inch insert thickness.
This insert is installed by qualified machinists or CNC tool setup technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully against all toolholder pockets and tighten the clamp or pin per the toolholder manufacturer torque specification. Inspect the cutting edge for chipping before each use and index to the next edge or replace the insert when wear or edge damage is detected.
