The KENNAMETAL 4053327 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CDHH12061L geometry, coated with TiAlN via PVD process and designated grade KCU10. It is a left-hand insert with an 80-degree diamond shape, a 15-degree relief angle, and a positive rake geometry. The inscribed circle measures 5/32 inches (0.1563 inches) and the corner radius is 1/64 inches (0.0156 inches). With two cutting edges per insert and a screw-on holding method, this insert is engineered for external turning operations on CNC lathes. It is installed and indexed by licensed machinists and tooling technicians in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is designed for turning operations on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium workpiece materials, corresponding to ISO material codes P, M, and S. Secondary applications cover cast iron and non-ferrous materials (ISO codes K and N). The screw-on mounting style makes it compatible with tool holders designed for CDHH insert geometry. The KCU10 grade and TiAlN coating provide thermal resistance and edge durability at elevated cutting speeds, making this insert well suited for finishing and semi-finishing passes on difficult-to-machine alloys.

Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct Torx or hex key driver specified for the screw-on mounting system and ensure the insert seat is clean and free of chips before seating the new insert. Follow the tool holder manufacturer's recommended clamping procedure to prevent insert movement during cutting.
