The KENNAMETAL 4050775 is a solid carbide turning insert in the TPG322 configuration, part of the KENDEX series. It features a 60-degree triangular shape with a 3/8 inch (0.3750 inch) inscribed circle and a 1/32 inch (0.0313 inch) corner radius. The insert carries a TiAlN (AlTiN) coating applied via PVD process, which improves heat resistance and tool life in demanding cutting conditions. The cutting edge is honed with a flat-top chip breaker geometry and a neutral hand orientation. Three cutting edges are available per insert. It is designed for use in clamp-style toolholders that accept the TPG insert style.

This insert is rated for turning, facing, and boring operations on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium — material codes P, M, and S in ISO classification. The KCU10 grade with PVD TiAlN coating is suited for interrupted cuts and tough materials where thermal shock resistance is a factor. The positive rake geometry and honed edge reduce cutting forces and help control built-up edge. Maximum depth of cut is 0.2163 inches. It is appropriate for both production and job-shop environments where a single insert grade needs to handle multiple workpiece materials across light to moderate cuts.

Installation Notes

Use the correct clamp screw torque per the toolholder manufacturer's specification — do not over-torque, as carbide inserts are brittle and can crack under uneven clamping load. Inspect the insert pocket and clamp for chips or debris before seating a new edge.
