The KENNAMETAL 4050616 is a solid carbide turning insert in the GPCD51 style, grade KCU25, with a physical vapor deposition (PVD) AlTiN coating. It features a 45-degree diamond shape (Insert Shape Code G), a 5/32 inch (0.1563 inch) inscribed circle, a 0.0156 inch corner radius, and a flat-top chip breaker geometry. The insert carries a positive rake angle and positive side clearance, delivering a balance of wear resistance and toughness across multiple workpiece material groups. It is designed for screw-on mounting and is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of five units. This insert is appropriate for use by machinists and CNC tooling specialists on turning, facing, and boring operations.
The KENNAMETAL 4050616 is suited for moderate-duty turning, facing, and boring applications on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous materials, and superalloys and titanium. The KCU25 grade is rated for moderate wear resistance and toughness across material groups P, M, K, N, and S. With a maximum depth of cut of 0.1472 inches and a honed cutting edge style, this insert performs reliably in both roughing and semi-finishing passes where consistent tool life is required. It conforms to ANSI and ISO standards under industry designations GPHW1211 and ISO code GPHW.
Designed for use in screw-on style toolholders compatible with ANSI size code 1211 and insert shape code G. Suitable for turning, facing, and boring of steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous materials, and superalloys and titanium.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing inserts. Seat the insert firmly against the toolholder pocket and tighten the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque. Inspect the insert seating surface and pocket for chips or debris before securing to maintain proper tool geometry and prevent premature edge failure.
