The KENNAMETAL 4050460 is a CNMG542MS style solid carbide turning insert in the KCU25 grade, PVD-coated with AlTiN for wear resistance and heat performance. It features an 80-degree diamond shape with a neutral hand orientation, a 5/8-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/32-inch corner radius. Insert length is 16.12 mm (0.6346 inches) and insert thickness is 1/4 inch. With four cutting edges and a honed cutting edge style, this insert is suited for general turning, facing, and boring operations on ferrous and difficult-to-machine workpiece materials. It is part of the KENLOC series and conforms to both ANSI and ISO standards. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary users.
This insert is designed for turning, facing, and boring operations across a range of workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. The MS chip breaker geometry and negative rake angle make it well-suited for medium-duty cutting conditions. The maximum depth of cut is 0.2113 inches. It is held using a clamp and pin method, which is standard for CNMG-style inserts in indexable toolholders. The insert is multi-use rated for production environments where consistent chip control and edge life are priorities.
