Product Description

The KENNAMETAL 4050426 is a solid carbide turning insert in DCGT3252HP geometry with KCU25 grade and AlTiN PVD coating. It features a 55-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a 3/8 inch inscribed circle, and a 1/32 inch corner radius. The positive rake angle of 15 degrees and honed cutting edge are engineered for finishing operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, superalloys, and titanium. Two cutting edges are available per insert. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert in screw-on toolholders for turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring applications.

This insert is suited for light finishing passes on a range of workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous metals, and superalloys and titanium. The HP chip breaker geometry promotes reliable chip control during finishing cuts. The KCU25 grade provides moderate wear resistance and toughness across steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), non-ferrous (N), and special/superalloy (S) material groups. It is appropriate for both production turning centers and manual lathes where a screw-clamped insert system is in use.

Key Features

  • DCGT3252HP geometry with 55-degree diamond shape and positive side clearance for low cutting forces
  • AlTiN PVD coating provides heat resistance and wear protection during dry or minimal-coolant finishing
  • KCU25 grade rated for moderate wear resistance and toughness across P, M, K, N, and S material groups
  • HP chip breaker optimized for finishing operations and effective chip evacuation
  • Neutral hand insert with two usable cutting edges per insert
  • Screw-on holding method compatible with standard DCGT-style toolholders

Compatibility

Designed for screw-on DCGT-style toolholders conforming to ANSI insert code DCGT3252 and ISO insert code DCGT11T308. Compatible with toolholder systems accepting a 3/8 inch inscribed circle, 5/32 inch thick diamond insert with positive geometry.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Always index or replace inserts with the machine fully stopped and the spindle locked. Use the manufacturer-specified torque driver for the screw-on clamp to avoid insert seating issues or screw damage. Inspect the toolholder pocket and clamp screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert.
