The KENNAMETAL 4050061 is a CNMG432FP-style indexable turning insert in grade KCU10, designed for metal cutting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert is manufactured from solid carbide and features a TiAlN (titanium aluminum nitride) PVD coating for improved wear resistance and heat tolerance at the cutting edge. The 80-degree diamond shape (Insert Shape Code C) provides a strong, versatile geometry suited for longitudinal turning, facing, and boring. The FP chip breaker geometry and honed cutting edge work together to control chip formation and reduce built-up edge when machining difficult materials.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, and boring applications on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. The KCU10 grade and PVD TiAlN coating make it a practical choice for interrupted cuts and variable stock conditions common in job shops and production environments. The neutral hand orientation allows use in both right- and left-hand toolholders configured for CNMG-style inserts. The insert follows both ANSI and ISO standards (ISO code CNMG120408FP), making it compatible with industry-standard CNMG toolholders from multiple manufacturers.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for CNMG432FP-designated toolholders using the KENLOC clamping system (clamp and pin holding method). Compatible with standard CNMG toolholder pockets per ANSI and ISO specifications. Primary workpiece materials are steel (P), stainless steel (M), superalloys, and titanium (S).
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Seat the insert fully against the toolholder pocket and tighten the clamp and pin per the toolholder manufacturer's torque procedure. Inspect the insert seating surface and chip breaker pocket for debris before each index to prevent insert rocking and premature edge failure.
