The KENNAMETAL 4048741 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill from the UCDE series, designed for high-performance material removal in demanding machining environments. Built with a 1-inch diameter and a 0.03-inch corner radius, this single-end tool produces a controlled edge geometry that reduces stress concentrations in finished workpieces. The AlTiN PVD coating provides excellent heat resistance and hardness, making it well-suited for dry or semi-dry cutting conditions. With 5 flutes in a high-helix spiral configuration and a Weldon flat shank, this end mill is engineered for both roughing and finishing operations in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and other hard materials. A licensed machinist or CNC operator is the typical installer.

This end mill is intended for use in CNC machining centers handling ferrous and hard alloy workpieces, including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and hard materials classified under material codes P, M, K, and H. The extended reach design, with a 3.25-inch reach length, makes it applicable where standard-reach tools cannot access deeper pockets or shoulders. The long flute length of 1.75 inches supports full-depth slotting and profiling passes in those materials. Compatible toolholding systems include EM-CV Form AD and EM IN-HSK Form A holders.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the spindle before mounting or removing the end mill. Verify runout at the tool tip with a dial indicator before initiating a cut, and confirm that cutting parameters match the material grade and coating requirements for this tool.
